The Huntsman: Winter’s War star Jessica Chastain is in talks to join Jake Gyllenhaal in THE DIVISION, the adaptation of the best-selling video game Tom Clancy’s The Division from Ubisoft. Gyllenhaal is producing with Gerard Guillemot.
The story is set in a quarantined Manhattan, where a virus sweeping through the city is causing chaos. The government activates sleeper agents in the population who operate for the Strategic Homeland Division to assist emergency responders and must locate the source of the virus.
The video game is an online-only open world third-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Massive and published by Ubisoft, with assistance from Red Storm Entertainment, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. According to Ubisoft, the game broke company records for highest number of first-day sales. Ubisoft is developing the feature as it prepares to release Assassin’s Creed this December.
Since breaking out with her back-to-back Oscar-nominated roles in The Help and Zero Dark Thirty, Chastain’s career has been on fire, appearing in blockbusters like Interstellar and The Martian, as well as smaller films like The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. She is currently in development with Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, Molly’s Game, and Blonde, in which she’s set to portray Marilyn Monroe. Chastain will next be seen in the political thriller Miss Sloane.
