Chastain, who previously worked with It director Andy Muschietti on the horror movie Mama, will play the adult version of Beverly (Sophia Lillis) in the sequel to New Line’s horror hit.
Gary Dauberman is writing Chapter Two, which will see Bill Skarsgard return as Pennywise the Clown. Production is slated to start this summer in advance of a Sept. 6, 2019 release.
Chastain has been in discussions to play Beverly for months, but her team had been waiting to see if she’d receive an Oscar nomination for Molly’s Game, which would’ve upped her quote and likely given her more leverage in any negotiation. The actress next stars in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. She’s represented by CAA and Mosaic.
