J.R. Ramirez has joined Season 2 of JESSICA JONES as a recurring guest star, Marvel announced Monday.
Ramirez plays Oscar, a devoted single father who moves into Jessica’s (Krysten Ritter) building as the new superintendent. While his young son becomes enamored with Jessica and her powers, Oscar keeps his distance, worrying about the trouble that follows people like her.
“J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor,” said Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg in a statement. “He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”
Ramirez joins Janet McTeer as newcomers to the Marvel Netflix superhero franchise. McTeer’s role is still being kept under wraps.
Jessica Jones is executive produced by Rosenberg and Raelle Tucker, along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
