Golden Globe winner Jimmy Smits has signed on to join the cast of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE for Thanksgiving. The NYPD Blue alum is set to play Amy’s (Melissa Fumero) father, Mr. Santiago in an upcoming holiday episode.
Smits’ character is described as a no-nonsense retired cop who loves his daughter very much. Naturally, Jake (Andy Samberg) is willing to do anything to impress him.
The episode will air on Tuesday November 22 on Fox. Smits is slated to appear in only one episode, but the Dan Goor comedy is known to bring back family members of their characters for recurring roles.
Smits stars in the upcoming reboot 24: Legacy alongside Corey Hawkins. He can currently be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s hip-hop series The Get Down on Netflix. He can be seen next on the big screen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
