In an interview, showrunner Ryan Murphy has revealed that Dynasty alum Joan Collins has signed on to star in season eight of AMERICAN HORROR STORY. As for the Monica Lewinsky-centered season of AMERICAN CRIME STORY, Murphy has halted development on the project, not wanting to put tell the story for the activist.
“I told her, ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do'”, Murphy reportedly said to Lewinsky when he ran into her. “If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.”
The American Crime Story season would have been based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President. Toobin also wrote the book Murphy based The People vs. OJ on. The next season of American Crime Story will center on Hurricane Katrina and will star Sarah Paulson, Annette Bening, Matthew Broderick, Dennis Quaid, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Courtney B. Vance.
There were no notes on who Collins would be playing on American Horror Story, but Murphy also said he was interested in Angelica Huston appearing in the season as well. Murphy regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates are back for another season of AHS which has been titled Radioactive. Further details on the storyline are unknown.
