Joe Cornish just beat out David MacKenzie and Tom Hooper for the directing position on Universal’s upcoming spy thriller SECTION 6 about the origins of MI6, the British Intelligence agency formed after World War I.
MI6 is the spy agency prominently featured in the James Bond franchise, and the rough American equivalent to the FBI. Cornish will be directing star Jack O’Connell, with production scheduled to start some time in early 2015.
Cornish has written and directed “Attack the Block,” and recently penned the Steven Spielberg directed, “Adventures of Tin Tin.” He is currently developing “Ant Man” for Disney.
