Hot off the hit genre flick Happy Death Day, Christopher Landon is attached to direct the sci-fi thriller CAPSULE, written by Joe Greenberg, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.
Lawrence Grey (Lights Out) is producing with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer (Arrival) under their new Ideogram production banner.
Capsule follows a lonely astronaut who is marooned on his ship billions of miles from Earth. On the verge of starvation, he reprograms the computer AI system to digitally look and sound like a beautiful call girl. With death around the corner, she becomes his only companion — until a rescue team shows up with questionable intentions.
Greenberg should be a familiar name to the development community, as he appeared on the Black List, the Hit List, the Young and Hungry List and the Blood List in 2016. Last year, Greenberg also sold his spec Man Alive to Fox with Noah Hawley attached to direct, and 26 Keys and Good Fear producing. Greenberg’s previous spec, Backvoid, won Best Screenplay at Screamfest LA in 2015, while Plain Jane was a 2014 Nicholl quarterfinalist.
Landon wrote the second, third and fourth Paranormal Activity movies before directing Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse for Paramount. He recently signed on to adapt and direct the short story Ernest for Legendary.
Greenberg is represented by Verve and Good Fear Film + Management, while Landon is repped by WME and Mosaic.
