Joe Wright is currently being eyed to direct the Winston Churchill film DARKEST HOUR. Set in 1940, the story will follow Churchill as he takes the position of Prime Minister during one of Britain’s most critical moments during World War II.
The film focuses on a time during the war when Britain was being defeated by Germany. While his army was stuck in Dunkirk, Churchill refused to surrender and fought on with decisions and actions during a dire time that made him a historical figure.
Wrightdirected the most recent Peter Pan adaptation, Pan starring Hugh Jackman and Rooney Mara. He will next direct an episode the popular anthology Black Mirror with Bryce Dallas Howard and Alice Eve. He is also attached to direct the adaptation of the stage play A Season in the Congo starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as well as the supernatural thriller, The Ruins.
