Based on Thorne’s concept about the impact of Alzheimer’s disease, the story centers on a writer (Thorne) who reluctantly returns home to take care of his estranged father, a victim of Alzheimer’s. Complications ensue with his girlfriend as well as his young sister (King), who lashes out in response to the circumstances while battling her own demons.
This is a personal project for many involved. Snyder notes that “several on [the film’s]team have had family pass of the disease.” The film explores an often forgotten side of Alzheimer’s: early detection and the resultant suffering.
King most recently appeared in Stonewall and can next be seen in Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence.
