Screenwriter John August has signed on to rewrite the adaptation of the Mac Carter comic book series THE STRANGE ADVENTURES OF H.P. LOVECRAFT for Universal. The project, which was originally adapted by Carter himself, tells the tale of prolific horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, as he comes into contact with an ancient book, and it passes onto him a curse: whenever he sleeps, his darkest nightmares come true and are unleashed on the world. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are set to produce. August’s work was last seen in his directing debut “The Nines”, and has stretched across several Tim Burton projects, including “Corpse Bride” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.
August is repped by UTA.
