The film marks the feature film directorial debut of Kogonada, who is best known for his visual artistry and film criticism. “After visiting the town, I felt an immediate sense for a film that would take place there, which would implicitly explore the promise of modernism (an ongoing quest for me),” Kogonada said in a statement. “The story revolves around a man and young woman from opposite sides of the world, each mourning the potential loss of a parent.”
Cho is set to play the estranged son of a prominent architecture critic while Posey will play a former student who is dating Cho’s character’s father.
Superlative Films and Depth of Field are producing the film along with Nonetheless Productions. Chris Weitz, Andrew Miano, Danielle Renfrew Behrens, Aaron Boyd, Ki Jin Kim, and Giulia Caruso will serve as producers. The film is currently shooting in Columbus, Indiana.
Cho recently starred in the summer sci-fi blockbuster Star Trek Beyond. He can also be seen in the upcoming thriller Gemini with Zoe Kravitz.
Posey’s most recent big-screen credit is Woody Allen’s Cafe Society. She will also reunite with director Christopher Guest for the Netflix comedy Mascots.
