Fun fact if you didn’t know, was named after Leonardo Da Vinci when DiCaprio’s mother was looking at a painting of Da Vinci’s in Italy when baby Leo kicked for the first time. So it seems life has come full circle as DiCaprio plans to star in a biopic based on the famous artist and inventor.

DiCaprio will produce with Jennifer Davisson through their Appian Way banner and has tapped Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan to write the script based on Walter Isaacson’s biography, Leonardo da Vinci.

Isaaconson used Da Vinci’s personal notebook to create a narrative that connects his art and science through imagination. Beyond being a painter he also pursued studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, and geology. According to the book Da Vinci was also a bit of an outcast, illegitimate, gay, vegetarian, easily distracted and occasionally heretical.

Logan will be penning the script while DiCaprio is filming his scenes for the untitled Charles Manson project with Quentin Tarantino. Logan also wrote the script for 2004’s The Aviator, which starred DiCaprio.

This was first reported by Deadline.
