Keanu Reeves’ ex-hitman is coming back for another go, with some old faces returning along with some new ones. The sequel to the hit action pic, currently titled JOHN WICK 2, is being directed by Chad Stahelski, who co-helmed the first one with David Leitch. New faces to the series include Peter Stormare, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Ruby Rose. The cast is rounded out by returning stars Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, and Tom Sadowski. Common was already announced a few weeks ago to play the film’s big bad.
Production recently commenced in New York and will later move to Rome in 2016. Basil Iwanyk returns to the produce the sequel under his Thunder Road banner, along with Stahelski and Leitch. Derek Kolstad scripted the film, which will be released under Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment.
Plot details are being kept under lock and key, but it will continue the journey of former hitman John Wick, who was forced out of retirement when a group of criminals broke into his house and killed his dog–the last gift he received from his deceased wife. Reports also speculate that Common will be playing the head of security for a crime lord that has beef with our titular hitman.
