Jon Bernthal Steps Up for Denis Villeneuve’s “Sicario”

The Denis Villeneuve helmed thriller revolves around a law enforcement agent who teams up with two mercenaries to cross the border and track down a dangerous Mexican drug kingpin. Bernthal will play Ted in a cast that includes Emily Blunt (“Devil Wears Prada” and “Looper”) and Benicio del Toro (“Traffic” and “The Usual Suspects”). Villeneuve (“Prisoners”) will begin shooting the project this summer.

Most recently, Bernthal has appeared in “Snitch,” “Grudge Match,” and last year’s Oscar nominated “Wolf of Wall Street” but he’s best known for playing Shane on AMC’s hit zombie-drama “The Walking Dead.” Bernthal’s upcoming films include the 2012 Blacklist drama “Me, Earl, and The Dying Girl” written by Jesse Andrews and David Ayer’s WWII tank drama “Fury” where he will appear alongside Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf.
