An impressive group of A-list actors are in talks to join Richard Linklater’s remake of THE INCREDIBLE MR. LIMPET. Jon Hamm, Danny McBride, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Hart, Josh Gad, Keegan Michael Key, and Jordan Peele are all thinking of joining Zach Galifianakis for the live action project. The adventure comedy project centers on a man who joins the Allied forces during World War II after falling into the sea and becoming a fish and uses his abilities to warn ships of incoming U-Boats. Linklater will both pen the script and direct the project and, if he signs on, Hamm would play the villain, a shrewd businessman who mines the ocean floor.
McBride, Silverman, Hart, Gad, Key and Peele are all comedy veterans, making Hamm the odd man out. That’s not to say that Hamm’s not funny – his stint as the handsome dolt Drew Baird on “30 Rock” always left us in stitches – it’s just that he’s not known for his comedy chops, preferring instead dramatic roles like Don Draper and FBI agent Adam Frawley in “The Town.”
McBride, on the other hand, is known for his comedy roles in “Eastbound & Down” and “Pineapple Express,” as is Silverman, who recently appeared in “A Million Ways to Die in the West” and “Wreck-It Ralph.” Similarly, stand-up Hart is known for comedic roles in “Ride Along” and the “Think Like a Man” franchise. Gad recently made a splash voicing the scene-stealing snowman Olaf in the smash hit “Frozen,” and is set to star in Chris Columbus’ animated feature “Pixels.” MadTV alums Key and Peele are known for their comedy series “Key & Peele” and both appear (along with Silverman) in Fox’s animated comedy “Bob’s Burgers.”
Hamm is repped by CAA and Forward Entertainment. McBride is with CAA. Silverman is with CAA and Thruline Entertainment. Hart is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment. Gad is with ICM and Brillstein Entertainment. Key and Peele are both repped by Principato-Young Entertainment but Key is also with UTA.
