Jon Hamm has been picked up to join Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx, and Lily James in MRC and TriStar Pictures’ BABY DRIVER. Edgar Wright, known for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and The Cornetto Trilogy, is writing and directing. Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan are shepherding, while Nina Park also produces via her Big Talk Productions.
The film follows a musically inclined young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom. Further details on who Hamm will be playing are being kept under lock and key. Production is anticipated to start later this year, with a March 17th, 2017 release date.
Last month, Hamm received a standing ovation when he won the Emmy for Best Dramatic Actor for his iconic role as Don Draper on AMC’s Mad Men. He also received a nomination for his hilarious stint on Netflix’s comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and appeared in Netflix’s side-splitting Wet Hot American Summer: First Day at Camp prequel series.
He recently wrapped on Fox’s comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses, which co-stars Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher, and Gal Gadot, and the James Franco-directed The Sound and the Fury. He’s currently in production on the sci-fi dramedy Marjorie Prime, which also stars Geena Davis and Tim Robbins.
