Gus Van Sant is looking to add Jonah Hill and Rooney Mara to the cast of his forthcoming drama DON’T WORRY, HE WON’T GET FAR ON FOOT. The two are in talks to join Joaquin Phoenix in the biopic about quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan.
Based on Callahan’s autobiography, the long-gestating project was once circled by the late Robin Williams. Callahan became paralyzed following a car accident at age 21, and turned to drawing as a form of therapy. The artist’s work raised eyebrows for its depiction of taboo topics, leading to numerous boycotts in his hometown of Portland.
Iconoclast’s Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Mourad Belkeddar, and Nicolas Lhermitte are set to produce with Steve Golin for Anonymous Content.
Hill recently starred in War Dogs with Miles Teller. He also be seen in the Cary Fukunaga’s upcoming comedy Maniac opposite Emma Stone.
Mara can be seen in the awards season pic Lion with Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman. Next up for the Oscar-nominated actor is Terrence Malick’s Weightless and Mary Magdalene which also stars Joaquin Phoenix.
