Josh Cooley has been tapped to co-direct TOY STORY 4, with John Lasseter. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will script the animated sequel, with a story from Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, and Lee Unkrich.
The next entry in the critically and financially successful Toy Story series will feature the franchise’s loveable characters at their new home. News of the sequel became inevitable following the massive success of Toy Story 3 and the multiple Toy Story shorts that followed.
About his involvement with he project, Cooley told Variety,
“To be co-director on Toy Story 4 with John, who brought the Toy Storycharacters to the screen 20 years ago, is a dream come true.When I first saw Toy Story I was amazed by the groundbreaking computer-generated animation. But it was the strong storytelling that kept me coming back. Toy Story 4 will continue that tradition and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it!”
Cooley has worked as a storyboard artist on several Pixar films, including The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Up, and Brave. He also served as a story supervisor on Cars 2 and a story editor and writer on the Toy Story: Small Fry short film. Most recently, the animation vet was the head of story on Pixar’s upcoming feature Inside Out.
