Tomorrow Studios has optioned the rights to Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 action thriller SNOWPIERCER, with plans to develop the story into a television series. Avatar 2 scribe Josh Friedman has been tapped to write the script, with Tomorrow’s Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements executive producing alongside Bong, Dooho Choi, and Chan-wook Park.
The film, which starred Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton and Ed Harris, is set in a post-apocalyptic Ice Age where the only remaining life on the planet survives aboard a train that travels around the globe. Evan’s character leads a rebellion of the train’s lower class, battling their way to the front of the train to confront the mysterious conductor. It was largely seen as a success with audiences and critics, blending science fiction and action with timely socio-political themes. After being strategically released on VOD just two week after its theatrical release, Snowpiercer pulled in over $85 million worldwide.
Friedman’s other television credits include the NBC series Crossbones, FOX’s The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and the upcoming Wizard of Oz adaptation Emerald City.
He is repped by UTA and Karl Austen.
