With Apatow Productions attached as the film’s production company and the man himself producing, it should come as no surprise that Judd Apatow has signed on to helm TRAINWRECK which will star Amy Schumer.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that the film will revolve around a basket case (Schumer) attempting to rebuild her life. Apatow will now begin casting for other roles such as the basket case’s boyfriend, a co-worker/best friend and a parent. In addition to starring, Schumer penned the script which Universal grabbed back in August. Barry Mendel is producing alongside Apatow and Erik Baiers is overseeing the project for Universal.
Apatow most recently produced “The Five-Year Engagement”, “Wanderlust” and also wrote and directed “This Is 40.” His slate of projects in development is quite exstensive and consists of “Pure Imagination”, “Long Distance Relationship”, “Let’s Do This” and “Attorneys at Raw.” Apatow is repped by UTA.
