HBO has ordered a single-camera comedy pilot from comedian Pete Holmes, which Judd Apatow will direct and produce. Crashing centers on a good-natured comedian whose wife leaves him, forcing him to stay on the couches of New York’s finest comics. The semi-autobiographical series is set to begin shooting this November, with Holmes, Apatow, and Holmes’ manager Dave Rath are executive producing.
Crashing is the first pilot directed by Apatow, though he already has a relationship with HBO, executive producing the hit comedy Girls. Apatow has appeared on Holmes’ podcast in the past, as well as his late-night TBS show, which ended in 2014.
Holmes is repped by WME and Generate. Apatow is represented by UTA and Mosaic.
