Dame Judi Dench joins the cast of Justin Chadwick’s TULIP FEVER. Set against the backdrop of the 17th Century Tulip Wars, the drama follows a married noblewoman who has an affair with an artist and switches identities with her maid to escape the wealthy merchant she married. She and her lover try to raise money together by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market. Dench is set to play The Abbess of St. Ursula’s, a woman who rescues orphaned children. “Glee” star Matthew Morrison, Cara Delevingne and Cressida Bonas also join the cast that includes Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger and Zach Galifianakis.
Dench is known for her period dramas including “A Room With a View,” Universal’s “Shakespeare in Love,” “Jane Eyre,” and “J. Edgar,” just to name a few. Most recently, she starred in “Skyfall” as M and the Oscar nominated drama “Philomena.” Her upcoming projects include the sequel “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2” and Kenneth Branagh’s drama “Italian Shoes” about an old man living on a remote island who is asked by an old flame to fulfill a promise he once made.
