Filmmaker Julie Delpy has announced her next project with MY ZOE. Delpy is set to direct and star in the film which she wrote. She stars with Gemma Arterton and Daniel Bruhl. Production will begin next spring in the U.K.
The project is described as a “fascinating and confrontational story about the lengths to which a mother’s love goes for her child,” in a statement. Delpy will play Isabelle, a geneticist recovering from a toxic marriage and raising her daughter Zoe in conjunction with her ex-husband. Zoe means everything to her mother, but when tragedy strikes the fractured family, Isabelle takes matters into her own hands.
Bruhl and Arterton have been cast as a couple in Moscow that Delpy turns to for help.
Baby Cow Films’ Gabrielle Tana is producing while Electrik Films’ Hubert Caillard and Dominique Boutonnat will co-produce. Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales and will present at EFM next year.
Delpy has previously written and directed Lolo, 2 Days in Paris, and The Countess but is best known for the Before Sunrise trilogy which she co-wrote and starred in.
