The film, which just began production, is being directed by Jake Kasdan, with a script by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. It’s based on the popular book by Chris Van Allsburg and continues the story from the Robin Williams’s film that grossed $260 million globally.
The movie received criticism earlier this week when a picture from the first day of shooting was released online. It showed the main cast in the jungle and featured all the male roles wearing typical jungle movie-fare while Gillan, the sole female in the picture, wearing a very skin-baring outfit. The creative team behind the film attempted to quickly squash the criticism, stating that Gillan’s outfit is storyline-based. No plot details for the film have been released.
Darby most recently starred in the TBS series Wrecked and has lent his voice to Voltron: Legendary Defender on Netflix. He has previously been seen in Yes Man and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
