Vinyl breakout star Juno Temple and The Americans actress Julia Garner are attached to star in the coming-of-age dramedy ONE PERCENT MORE HUMID. The film, which will also star Alessandro Nivola, comes from writer-director Liz Garcia.
The story centers on Iris (Temple) and Catherine (Garner), college-age childhood friends who reunite for a humid New England summer to help each other cope with the unimaginable – a friend has died in a car accident, an accident which they both survived. The spec landed on the Black List in 2005.
Garcia will produce through her La Pistola, Inc. with Joshua Marto and Greg Beauchamp’s Red Productions.
Temple stars in the HBO series Vinyl, which was recently renewed for a second season. Her previous film credits include BlackMass, Maleficent, and The Dark Knight Rises. She recently wrapped the The Most Hated Woman in America, which is set to hit Netlfix later this year.
Garner, who had a recurring role on this past season of the critically acclaimed FX series The Americans, appeared in last year’s Grandma with Lily Tomlin.
Garcia has a long career writing for television, including for shows like Dawson’s Creek,Wonderfalls, Cold Case, and Memphis Beat. She’s the executive producer and showrunner on the currently in-development series The Big Kahuna. Her directorial debut, The Lifeguard starring Kristen Bell, was released in 2013.
Watch out for Isaac Lefevre and the producers of One Percent More Humid. I worked on this film and was never paid. I’ve been in the industry for 15 years and have never come across a more unprofessional group – disgraceful.
