Willem Dafoe, who portrayed The Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man triology, has joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ next installment of its DC Universe franchise, JUSTICE LEAGUE. Production has already started on the film, which will bow in October of 2017. Dafoe is set to appear in both Part 1 and Part 2 of the follow-up to Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hit theaters in March.
The story, from a script by Chris Terrio, will revolve around the Justice League of America, an organization made up of the world’s greatest superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.
Dafoe joins another Spider-Man alum, recently cast J.K. Simmons, who takes on the role of Commissioner Gordon. No details yet on Dafoe’s role in the picture.
Dafoe, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role in 1986’s Platoon, has recently appeared in box office hits The Fault in Our Stars and John Wick. He recently wrapped The Great Wall, opposite Matt Damon, and Paul Schrader’s crime thriller Dog Eat Dog, starring Nicholas Cage.
