The big screen adaptation of ASSASSIN’S CREED may have found it’s director in Justin Kurzel. He’s currently in talks with Ubisoft and New Regency to bring the famous hooded assassin to a theater near you.
Based on the popular video game, the film will follow a bartender who discovers that he is descended from a long line of assassins, and is sent back in time to collect and bring back artifacts for a secret corporation.
Kurzel is a bit of a newcomer, his film “The Snowtown Murders” won the Gold Hugo award at the Chicago International Film Festival, and he has just wrapped filming on a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” starring Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is also attached to star in this project.
It finally seems like this project is getting some traction, with a star, writers and a director in the works. Ubisoft and New Regency have been eager to get this project started, along with their adaptation of “Splinter Cell” with Doug Liman attached to direct and Tom Hardy to star.
Kurzel is repped by CAA.
