Coming off directing Star Trek Beyond, Justin Lin and his production company Perfect Storm Entertainment are set to produce REVENGE AT A WEDDING, a new dark comedy helmed by Nima Nourizadeh, sources say. Lin will produce alongside Troy Craig Poon, with Perfect Storm’s Ben Shields Catlin overseeing the project.
Romeo and Juliet meets True Romance, Revenge at a Wedding features two star-crossed lovers who struggle to stick together when their warring mob families turn the wedding into a night of bloody revenge.
Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshivrani wrote the script. Their previous credits include From Here to Albion, which is currently in development at Participant Media and Potboiler Productions.
Previously, Nourizadeh directed the two aesthetic and style-heavy films Project X from screenwriters Michael Bacall and Matt Drake, as well as Max Landis’ American Ultra. Before this he directed various music videos and commercials and in 2008, he won the award for Best Director at the UK Music Video Awards.
Lin is the director behind blockbusters like the aforementioned Star Trek Beyond, but better known for his involvement in the Fast & Furious franchise, having directed Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6.
His production company’s previous credits include Star Trek Beyond, Hollywood Adventures, and Scorpion on CBS. The company has a number of projects on both its film and TV slate in the works.
