Scottish actress Karen Gillan has been cast in the horror flick IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE. The film follows a drifter with nothing to lose who seeks revenge on the men who killed his best friend. She joins Ethan Hawke, John Travolta and Taissa Farmiga, the sister of Vera. Gillan and Farmiga will play sisters who run a hotel where the drifter (Hawke) goes looking for vengeance. Veteran horror director Ti West will helm the project.
Gillan is known to geeks around the world for her role as Amy Pond in the Matt Smith era of “Doctor Who.” (She also briefly appeared in the Peter Capaldi episode “The Fires of Pompeii” as a Soothsayer but was barely recognizable so we won’t count that.) She recently starred in Mike Flanagan’s horror film “Oculus” and stars in the upcoming action/sci-fi “Guardians of the Galaxy” with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper. Gillan is also set to star in the ABC comedy series “Selfie” about a self-involved 20-something who enlists the help of a marketing expert after being the subject of an embarrassing viral video.
