Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings’ novel THE POSSIBILITIES has attached Kathleen Robertson to write the script. Helen Estabrook and Jason Reitman will produce with Reitman also set to direct.
The story is centered around a grieving Colorado mother whose son was killed in a skiing avalanche and then starts a friendship with a mysterious young girl. The book is Hemmings follow-up to The Descendants, which was previously adapted by Alexander Payne with the script from Payne, Nat Faxon, and Jim Rash winning the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar.
Robertson is a writer and actor who previously penned the 1994 satire Swimming with Sharks for E! with Kevin Spacey executive producing. She also has the dramedy Your Time is Up set up at Lifetime with Christina Applegate attached to star and penned the spec Hollywood Babylon, based on the book by Kenneth Anger, for Warner Horizon. She starred in TNT crime drama Murder in the First and Boss on Starz.
