Mogadishu, Minnesota is a family drama that grapples with what it means to be American, among the Somalis of Minneapolis. When the project was put into development, it was described as giving a glimpse into the world of Jihadi recruitment.
The script was written by K’naan Warsame, who will also direct the pilot. Bigelow executive produces with Carolyn Strauss.
Succession follows the saga of a fictional, American global-media family that is not only rich and powerful, but also powerfully dysfunctional. The project will explore family loyalty, international business and the perils of power in the 21st century.
McKay will direct the pilot written by Jesse Armstrong, as well as executive produce with Ferrell, Kevin Messick, and Frank Rich.
The orders are the first to fall under HBO’s new programming president Casey Bloys.
