Disney’s THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS has found their Sugar Plum Fairy in Oscar-nominated actor Keira Knightley. She joins the growing cast which includes Mackenzie Foy, who stars as Clara, as well as lead ballerina Misty Copland. Morgan Freeman has also signed on to the live-action adaptation.
Lasse Hallstrom is set to direct the movie from Ashleigh Powell’s script which is based on the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman. Sam Dickerman and Allison Erlikhman are overseeing for Disney, alongside executive producer Lindy Goldstein and producer Mark Gordon. Sara Smith is overseeing the production for The Mark Gordon Company.
Knightley has a solid relationship with Disney, having starred in three movies in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. She recently starred opposite Jason Clarke in Everest and can be seen next in David Frankel’s ensemble drama Collateral Beauty alongside Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Edward Norton and Helen Mirren.
She is repped by CAA, United Agents, and MGMT Entertainment.
