Kerry Washington to Produce Blended Family Comedy “Melting Potts”

ABC and are about to bring even more diversity and inclusion to television. The and Scandal star’s Simpson Street Production are developing MELTING POTTS, a single-camera comedy that focuses on a blended family made up of equal parts Indian, Muslim, Jewish, and New Jersey.

The series, written by Ryan Jaffe, follows a newly married couple struggling against culture, tradition, and generations to build their idea of a “normal” American family.

Jaffe will also serve as executive alongside Washington and her producing partner Sharla Sumpter Bridgett.

Washington and Sumpter Bridgett also are executive producing ABC drama project Patrol, about four female LAPD officers, which is written by Chitra Elizabeth Sampath. Simpson Street also produced the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas HBO movie Confirmation, which earned Washington two nods for acting and executive producing.

Washington is repped by , , and Washington Square Arts.
