Kevin Kline and Mamie Gummer are in talks to join Meryl Streep in RICKI AND THE FLASH. The Diablo Cody penned dramedy centers on an aging rock star who abandoned her children to find fame and returns to try to be the mother she should have been. Kline would play Ricki’s forgiving ex-husband while Streep’s real life daughter, Gummer, would play her on screen daughter, Julie.
Kline is best known for his Oscar winning turn in “A Fish Called Wanda” and for his roles in “The Big Chill” and, recently, in Jon Turteltaub’s “Last Vegas.” Kline will next appear in the period drama “The Last of Robin Hood” as Errol Flynn and in Robin Wright’s “The Archivist” with Anna Kendrick and Tom Wilkinson.
Gummer and Streep last appeared in “Heartburn” together back in the 80s but Gummer has since gone on to make a name for herself with roles in “The Good Wife,” “Newsroom,” and Side Effects. Her upcoming projects include indie dramas “Echo Park” and “Cake” where she stars alongside Jennifer Aniston and Chris Messina.
