Kristen Bell is continuing her relationship with STXfilms after starring in the studio’s two hit comedies Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas, as she has just signed on to star in the studio’s musical comedy FANTASY CAMP, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
In the film, Bell will play a failed junior high drama teacher who attends a musical theater summer camp for adults.
Sidney Karger wrote the screenplay, which is being produced by Greg Silverman and Madhouse Entertainment. Karger previously wrote the Black List screenplay Paper Airplane and is repped by Verve, Madhouse and Bloom Hergott.
Bell is repped by CAA, Bailey Brand and Schreck Rose, and she’s currently starring in the NBC sitcom The Good Place with Ted Danson, which has been renewed for a third season. She has also been cast in the Netflix comedy feature Like Father. So far, the two Bad Moms comedies starring Bell have been the most profitable movies for the relatively young studio, and Fantasy Camp returns Bell to the musical genre after voicing Anna in the blockbuster hit Frozen and its 2019 sequel.
STXfilms has a number of other female-led comedies in the works including next week’s I Feel Pretty, starring Amy Schumer, Melissa McCarthy’s upcoming puppet musical The Happy Time Murders, produced with the Jim Henson Company, and Jennifer Lopez’s rom-com Second Act.
Bell’s casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
