“La La Land” Director Damien Chazelle to Helm Musical TV Drama “The Eddy”

Hot off winning Best at the Oscars for La La Land, is attached to direct , a new musical drama set in modern-day Paris. , who co-wrote the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with J.K. Rowling, will write the project.

The series will focus on a club in the City of Lights and its owner and house band as they make their way through life in the passionate throes of the city.

Songwriter Glen Ballard and Six Feet Under‘s Alan Poul are set to executive the series. WME is shopping the project to cable and streaming outlets.

It’s no longer rare for big names in the movie industry to move to television. Not only are plenty of people doing so, but television has become the prestigious landscape to tell diverse and groundbreaking stories in a longer format.  Chazelle’s main contender at the Oscars, Barry Jenkins, recently signed on to adapt The Underground Railroad for Amazon.
