Lady Gaga Confirmed For Bradley Cooper Directorial Debut “A Star Is Born” At Warner Bros.

She was born that way – a star, that is. And now, it’s official.

Warner Bros. has greenlit a new remake of starring Lady Gaga opposite . Cooper will also make his feature directorial debut, working from a script adapted by Will Fetters.

The film is a remake of the 1937 David O. Selznick production about an aspiring Hollywood actress and the fading movie star who helps launch her . It has been remade twice already, in the 1954 musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason, and again in 1976 with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Cooper’s version is expected to be a musical, as well.

The film marks Cooper’s directorial debut at Warner Bros. Cooper is producing with Todd Philips through their Joint Effort shingle with Billy Gerber and Jon Peters. Basil Iwanyk is the executive .

Cooper began discussing the role with Gaga earlier this year after Beyonce turned it down. The studio has officially approved of the match, which will mark the Gaga’s first leading role in a feature film. She recently won a Golden Globe for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel and was nominated for an Oscar for her Original Song “Til It Happens To You” for The Hunting Ground.
