〉 Chris Bender, previously of Benderspink, launched Good Fear Film + Management earlier this week.
Launch Pad alum Matthew Tente, whose spec BURN RUNis heating up the town this week, has been signed by Jake Wagner of the newly formed management company Good Fear. Tente, who placed in the 2015 LPPC with his drama pilotDawn of the Drug War, marks the first writer to be signed by Good Fear.
Burn Run, pitched as Three Kings meets Mad Max, is set in war-torn Afghanistan, where an American Mercenary team is hired to escort a 20-ton heroin seizure bound for destruction. When their leader goes rogue, the team gets caught up in a botched drug deal, forcing them to overcome various enemies who wish to steal it.
Tente’s spec happens to be one of two scripts titled Burn Run that are currently building buzz around town, with Tente’s grabbing the attention of Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films and X-Menproduction company Hutch Parker Entertainment. CAA is also working on a package for the project.
While Tente is the first writer to sign with Good Fear, he joins a bounty of Benderspink clients who followed their reps to the new venture. The Benderspink split was formally announced last week when founders Chris Bender and J.C. Spink released a joint statement discussing their company’s dissolution after nearly 20 years. This week, Bender launched the new outfit with Benderspink alum Jake Weiner joining him as a partner, and Wagner, Daniel Vang, Scott Stoops and talent manager Ryan Revel have also moving over to the new company.
