It’s a big day for Lauren Graham with announcements that she is writing a script for one former TV-daughter and is in talks to sign on for a revival series with another.
Parenthood‘s Graham and Mae Whitman are teaming up to bring bestselling THE ROYAL WE by Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks. Graham will write the script as a starring vehicle for Whitman, her former television daughter. The book tells the story of an American girl who goes away to school in Oxford where she meets and falls in love with the future King of England, following a path very similar to the real-life story of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Outside of The Royal We, Morgan and Cocks are best known for their snarky, celebrity-fashion site, GoFugYourself.com. They are repped by Brettne bloom of The Book Group.
Whitman recently starred in The Duff, and can be heard as playing the voice of the titular character in Disney’s Tinker Bell series, as well as making regular appearances in Jason Reitman’s “Live Read” series at LACMA. Meanwhile, Graham starred in this year’s family film Max and appeared in last year’s season finale of The Odd Couple.
Graham made a splash this summer at the ATX Television Festival. She was there for the GILMORE GIRLS reunion with Alexis Bledel, who played her TV-daughter “Rory” on the WB/CW hit series. Bledel and Whitman, both of Graham’s on-screen prodigies, met for the first time and sent the internet abuzz with the above photo.
After the success of the panels this summer and the popularity of the series on Netflix, the steaming service has decided to give Gilmore Girls a limited revival online. Castmembers are reportedly in the midst of negotiations.
So now Parenthood and Gilmore Girls fans alike may rejoice!
