Laverne Cox has been cast in the new CBS pilot DOUBT. The courtroom drama follows a smart, successful defense lawyer at a smaller firm who becomes romantically involved with one of her clients who might be guilty of a terrible crime. Cox is set to play Cameron Wirth, a funny, competitive transgender Ivy-League attorney. The series comes from Tony Phelan and Joan Rater (Grey’s Anatomy), Timberman/Beverly, and CBS TV Studios.
Cox co-stars on the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black, a role which earned her an Emmy nomination. She was mostly recently featured in Paul Weitz’ family comedy Grandma, which starred Lily Tomlin as a self-described misanthrope who must endure a day-long journey with her 18-year-old granddaughter.
Cox is repped by the Hartig Hilepo Agency.
