In 2013, Leah Remini famously broke away from the Church of Scientology and now reports say she is producing a series on this subject for A&E. While it is not known what exactly the series will cover, Remini did write a book titled Troublemaker, detailing her time with the Church and allegedly exposing many of their inner workings, so it is likely this will make up some basis for the series.
It was first revealed in June that Remini was working on a series about Scientology, but no other details were available at that time.
However, she has been vocal about her criticism of the Church since she left, not only in her tell-all book, but also in a 20/20 interview where she revealed specifics about her time with them, such as being pressured to bring Jennifer Lopez to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding in an attempt to convert Lopez.
The Church has been equally critical of Remini since her break, insisting instead that Remini wanted to stay when she was on the verge of being expelled “for refusing to abide by the high level of ethics and decency Scientologists are expected to maintain.”
It is not yet known when the series will start production or premiere.
