Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way has acquired the rights to a book proposal from Jack Ewing surrounding the recent scandal at Volkswagon. It was revealed that the company had committed fraud, programming the diesel cars sold in the U.S. to show lower emissions when tested, but when driven the numbers were actually up to forty times higher. Following the scandal, company CEO Martin Winterkorn resigned.
DiCaprio is well-known for playing corrupt characters, finding huge success in his portrayal of Jordan Belfort in Martin Scorcese’s The Wolf of Wall Street as the criminal stock broker the National Association of Securities Dealers indicted in 1995 for securities fraud and money laundering. DiCaprio will next be seen in The Revenant as a frontiersman in the 1820s who was left for dead after a bear mauling.
The actor is repped by LBI Entertainment.
