Liam Neeson is set to star in Felt from writer-director Peter Landesman. The film follows the real life of the man behind “Deep Throat,” the whistleblower in the Watergate scandal. MadRiver Pictures, Scott Free Productions, Playtone, and Cara Films will produce.
The spy-thriller centers on Mark Felt, who revealed himself in 2005 as the infamous “Deep Throat.” It chronicles the personal and professional life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who risked and ultimately sacrificed everything in the name of justice.
Landesman penned the script and will produce alongside Ridley Scott, Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks, Giannina Scott, Marc Butan, Christopher Woodrow, and Jay Roach. Steven Shareshian, Michael Schaefer, Michael Bassick, and Steven Marshall will executive produce.
Neeson most recently took on lighter fare this year with appearances in Ted 2 and Entourage. He stars in Martin Scorsese’s Silence due out next year, opposite Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield and the Focus Features film A Monster Calls alongside Felicity Jones and Sigourney Weaver.
Neeson is repped by CAA and Artists Rights Group in the U.K.
