Popular YA novel DRINK, SLAY, LOVE by Sarah Beth Durst is being adapted for the small screen in a TV movie from Lifetime and co-executive producer Bella Thorne. Cierra Ramirez will star in the project.
The story follows Pearl (Ramirez), a typical 16-yar-old vampire who is fond of blood, allergic to the sun, and is generally pretty evil. After a mysterious attack leaves her able to survive in the daylight, Pearl’s powerful family quickly takes advantage of this new ability, sending her to high school to gather fresh young blood for an upcoming feast in honor of the Vampire King. But Pearl is growing a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends to be slaughtered? If she doesn’t though, she lets her family down.
Vanessa Paris is directing the TV movie with a script from Eriene Donohue. Sheri Singer of Just Singer Entertainment executive produces alongside Thorne. Tina Pehme and Kim C. Roberts of Sepia Films are producing.
The project also stars Gregg Sulkin, Zach Peladeau, McKaley Miller, Angelique Rivera, Sarah Desjardins, and Jasmine Sky Sarin.
Thorne previously starred in Perfect High, which had the same director and producing team as Drink, Slay, Love. Perfect centered on Thorne as Amanda, a sweet suburban teen who is introduced by her new friends to prescription drug-sharing, but the recreational fun soon leads her to a life-altering heroin addiction.
Ramirez has a strong YA presence, having starred on ABC Family’s The Fosters and Secret Life of the American Teenager. She previously appeared on The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, Desperate Housewives, and Zoey 101.
