Lionsgate Has High Hopes For “Power Rangers” Franchise

has high hopes for the new movie. After the positive response to the costume images, the company was happy to show their optimism for the new film during a conference call with analysts.

“We are really, really excited about the Power Rangers movie,” CEO Jon Feltheimer said. “We could see doing five or six or seven.”

Since the announcement of the new movie, the studio worked to build excitement from fans with images going out as casting selections were made. Starring in the film are actors Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. Elizabeth Banks has been cast as the villainous Rita Repulsa. They recently revealed the Rangers’ armor, which consists of translucent material that crystallizes around the fighters’ bodies.

The actioner hits theaters on March 24 and reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.

The call also highlighted Now You See Me 2, and its tracking ahead of the 2013 original film, as well as the Emma Roberts and Dave Franco starring Nerve, which has more than 20 million trailer views.

Rob Friedman, co-head of the studio’s motion picture group, noted that they are spending approximately $100 million less on movies. The previous fiscal year included the expensive and underperforming Gods Of Egypt and The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
