Liv Tyler is returning to television and joining the cast of Harlots in Season 2 as a new series regular.
Set against the backdrop of 18th century Georgian London, Harlots follows Margaret Wells (Samantha Morton) and her daughters as she struggles to reconcile her role as mother and brothel owner when her business comes under attack from a ruthless rival madam.
Based on the stories of real women, Harlots is described as a powerful family drama as explored from the female perspective.
The series stars Lesley Manville, Jessica Brown Findlay and Morton and hails from the creative team of Moira Buffini, Allison Newman, Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Alison Carpenter.
Tyler will play Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam, described as an aristocratic social butterfly whose long-held secrets keep her in the thrall of Lydia Quigley (Manville), becoming an increasingly desperate victim of Lydia’s blackmail. Trapped in a loveless marriage, the character will also find an unexpected friend and ally in courtesan Charlotte Wells (Findlay).
Tyler most recently starred on HBO’s The Leftovers, which marked her first foray into television. She’s known for films including the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Armageddon. She is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
