The XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS reboot is inching its way through development over at NBC as Javier Grillo-Marxuach has been brought in to pen the script. He will also executive produce alongside series co-creator Rob Tapert and executive producer Sam Raimi.
Grillo-Marxuach has previously worked on several television series including Lost, Charmed, the Charlie’s Angels reboot, as well as co-executive producing Helix.
It was reported over the summer that NBC was considering rebooting the 90s action series, though series star Lucy Lawless initially denied the rumors via Twitter.
The show is one of several re-imagined series in development at NBC. It was previously announced that Bryan Fuller was adapted a new run of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories, as well as film-to-tv adaptations of All of Me and Cruel Intentions.
Grillo-Marxuach is repped by ICM Partners.
