The project follows the true story of the FBI’s 1980 under-cover sting operation of Congress, dubbed Abscam, to root out corruption, which was the brainchild of the world’s greatest con man. No word on what specific role the comedian would play, especially considering it’s a drama. But perhaps it’s O. Russell “drama” which has an inherent comedy to it.
Producing will be Chuck Roven, Richard Suckle, Mark Roybal and Megan Ellison.
C.K. has been around for a while (“Pooty Tang”, “Lucky Louie”), not to mention pumping out several comedy albums and specials, but really everyone truly got serious about him when a little show called “Louie” premiered on Fx. A show that seems to prove that the universe gets it exactly right sometimes. On the film front through he’ll next appear in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”.
