Mr. Church actress Lucy Fry has been tapped for a key role in Netflix’s upcoming fantasy pic BRIGHT directed by David Ayer and written by Max Landis.
Fry joins Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and Noomi Rapace in the fantasy thriller about a human (Smith) and an Orc (Edgerton) who must outrun cops, criminals and an assorted coterie of supernatural beings in order to protect a magical wand. Fry’s character, Tikka, is a young elf with powers who is in possession of the aforementioned wand and must be protected by Smith and Edgerton. Shooting is set to begin later this month in Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, the original spec from American Ultra scribe Max Landis triggered a fierce bidding war. Netflix ended up acquiring the rights, beating out studios like Sony and Warner Bros. The sale was one of the largest spec sales in years with a price tag of $90 million.
In addition to starring opposite Eddie Murphy in Mr. Church, Fry has also appeared alongside James Franco in Hulu’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 11.22.63. Her previous film credits include Vampire Academy and The Darkness.
She is repped by ICM Partners and Primary Wave Entertainment.
