Mackenzie Davis is the latest actor to sign on to the UNTITLED BLADE RUNNER SEQUEL, which, other than the casting announcements has been veiled in secrecy. The Halt and Catch Fire star will join Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford for the follow-up to the 1982 original.
Ford is set to reprise his role as Detective Rick Deckard while Denis Villeneuve has signed on to direct. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana De Armas and Sylvia Hoeks. Co-writer of the original, Hampton Fancher, is back on board to write the sequel alongside Michael Green. The sequel is slated for a January 12th, 2018 release date.
Details about the sequel and the characters have been kept under wraps, but it will be set in Los Angeles decades after the original which was based on Philip K. Dick’s 1968 sci-fi novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and directed by Ridley Scott.
Davis starred in the Golden Globe-winning The Martian, also directed by Scott. She starred in the thriller Always Shine which bowed at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. She can be seen in the forthcoming indie comedy Izzy Gets the F*ck Across Town, which she also produced.
